Start with a compact, cited overview: what the matter is, who the client is, our role, the last touch, and the next turn. Ask for the current status, open items, next steps, or project history. Or ask the question that brought you back to the file.
Open a citation to read the original document alongside the conversation. Move between cited passages without losing your place. A chronology brings the sequence of events into the conversation when the history matters.
Pick up where you left off.
Rejoining a dormant matter, briefing a colleague, or preparing for the next call should not mean reconstructing the whole deal from memory. Each project keeps its own conversations, so your questions and the context behind them are there when you return.
When the documents disagree or leave a material gap, DealTeam explains the uncertainty and asks for clarification when it needs your help. Your answers stay attributed to you, distinct from what the documents establish.

DealTeam searches and reads the source records before answering. It connects relevant events, compares conflicting accounts, and explains what the available evidence supports. A matter map can add context about parties and relationships, while the original documents remain available for direct inspection.
The aim is a useful working understanding of the matter: what is established, what remains uncertain, and what would move the work forward.
