What it is.

DealTeam is a plugin for the AI workbenches lawyers are already adopting: ChatGPT Work and Claude CoWork. Installing it turns the general-purpose AI inside those tools into a specialist in transactional practice. It knows what deal documents are, how negotiation turns work, what to verify, and when to stop and ask you.

At the center is the matter map: a structured, private shadow of your deal that the agent builds and maintains for its own understanding. Parties, key documents, versions, negotiation turns, open issues, decisions, deadlines. Think of it as a secure data room the AI curates for itself. Your files stay exactly where they are; nothing is moved, renamed, or reorganized.

Why it exists.

Generic AI tools can draft and answer questions, but they don’t really understand your project. Every session starts from zero, re-reading raw files and re-deriving the story. The hard problems in deal work are continuity problems: rejoining a dormant matter, bringing an expert colleague up to speed, handing off to a junior lawyer, remembering why a position changed three turns ago.

The traditional fix is discipline: status memos, closing checklists, playbooks. But discipline is the first casualty of a live deal, so the record goes stale exactly when the deal needs it most.

DealTeam doesn’t ask anyone to document the deal. The record is a byproduct of the work itself: every draft dropped in the folder, every email forwarded, every edit approved becomes part of the matter map. No one pauses to file anything.

How it works.

Start. Create a project folder and drop in whatever you have: drafts, markups, emails, checklists. Open a session in ChatGPT Work or Claude CoWork, connect the folder, and run /intake. The agent studies the contents, builds the matter map, and assigns the matter its own email address. If the folder already has a matter map from an earlier session, the agent picks it up and continues where you left off.

Work the way you already work. Drop new files into the folder. Forward emails to the matter’s address. The agent folds each one into the matter map: which draft is current, what changed, which negotiation turn it belongs to, what’s now open or resolved. There is no new system to learn and no filing discipline to maintain. The map stays current while you work.

Ask. When you need to know where things stand, ask. /status produces a timeline and summary of the matter as it stands today. /audit sends adversarial sub-agents through the current state and comes back with questions and suggested edits. /suggest walks you through those edits so you can approve or reject each one. Every answer cites back to the document, comment, or email it came from.
